Group Structure

National Group
Highest performance based swimmers with Age Group Championships qualifying times and working towards Eastern and Senior National times. Swimmers who have not obtained their times but can train at the same level will also be in the group. Eventually would like the group to consist of all Age Group Championships/Eastern National qualifiers. They will train eight times a week and attendance requirements are above 85% and include dedication to training throughout July and some of August. Focus meets will be all Senior Nationals, Easterns and Age Group Championships.

Top 1
The group will include strong swimmers who compete off-island each year. The swimmers should be moving towards Easterns and Age Group Nationals. Top 1 will train eight times a week and attendance recommended to be above 70% and include dedication to training through July. Focus meets will be Pointe-Claire, Fort Lauderdale, East Coast Championships, Easterns and Age Group Championships.

Top 2
The group will focus on the top performing 13-14 year old swimmers in the club and will prepare swimmers for training with the Top 1/National groups. Swimmers should be working towards Age Group National time standards. Training will take place seven times per week and swimmers should be attending 80% of their practices. Focus meets will vary from year to year but will always include Age Group Championships.

Top 3
This group will be structured for swimmers who still enjoy competitive swimming but are less committed or at a lower performance level than the swimmers in Top 1 and 2. The swimmers will compete at a Provincial level and will have travel opportunities throughout the year based on performance and attendance. Swimmers will train six-seven times per week. The goals of the group will still be training to compete but attendance expectations will be lower.

Age Group Performance
The group will focus on the top performing 12 year old swimmers in the club and will prepare swimmers for training with the Top 2 group. Swimmers will be training to compete at a top Provincial level and will be given travel opportunities throughout the year. Age Group Performance swimmers will have six practices per week and should have at least 80% attendance.

Age Group Development
The top 10-12 year old swimmers will train in the Age Group Development group. This group will prepare swimmers to move into the Age Group Performance group. Swimmers will be training to compete at a top Provincial level and may be given travel opportunities throughout the year based on their performance. There will be five practices a week for Age Group Development swimmers and they should be attending 75% of their practices.

Age Group Achievement
This group will continue to develop the 10-12 year old swimmers working developing their stroke technique and training. Swimmers will be working towards qualifying in Provincial Championship meets and possible travel meets based on performance. There will be five practices a week for Age Group Achievement swimmers and they should be attending 75% of their practices.

Age Group Introduction
This group will introduce 11 and under year old pre-competitive swimmers to the techniques and training of our competitive program. Swimmers will be encouraged to compete at Provincial invitational swim meets and time trials with the goal of qualifying for the Provincial Championship meets. Age Group Introduction will train four times a week with high attendance promoted to the swimmers.

Age Group Youth
This group will also introduce pre-competitive swimmers and returning competitive swimmers to the techniques and training of our competitive program. The age of the swimmers will be older than the swimmers in Age Group Introduction mainly composed of 11-13 year old swimmers. Swimmers will still be able to move into Age Group Development, Age Group Performance, or in some cases Top 3 after the training in Age Group Youth. Age Group Youth will practice four times a week and attendance in practice and at Provincial invitational swim meets and time trials will be encouraged.

Age Group Fundamentals
This group is quite similar to Age Group Introduction and was created to help with the large number of young competitive swimmers we have moving through our club.

Little Legends Tuesday/Thursday
Little Legends will be introduced to the skills necessary to train in a competitive swim program. The focus will be on learning new skills and teaching the swimmers to enjoy swimming. The swimmers will train twice a week and will have Super Skills competitions every six-eight weeks throughout the swim season. Swimmers will be encouraged to attend time trials and move into the competitive swim program.

Little Legends Monday/Wednesday
Little Legends will be introduced to the skills necessary to train in a competitive swim program. The focus will be on learning new skills and teaching the swimmers to enjoy swimming. The swimmers will train twice a week and will have Super Skills competitions every six-eight weeks throughout the swim season. Swimmers will be encouraged to attend time trials and move into the competitive swim program.
